browning blr steel vs aluminum Introduction

Changes in the Browning BLR? - 24hourcampfire

Dec 22, 2009 · I am interested in getting a short action BLR and want to know if the old steel receivers are better than the new aluminum ones. Are their pro's and con's to the straight grip vs the pistol grip stock? How much heavier would a steel receiver BLR-81 be then an aluminum one in the same caliber? Did they ever make a steel receiver pistol grip BLR?

Aug 08, 2015 · I have a BLR 358 with an aluminum receiver. The LGS has an older BLR 358 with a steel receiver that I am drawn to and I am thinking of trading mine for theirs. Should I do it? Which is the better rifle? I am fairly happy with mine but like the looks and smoothness of the steel one a little better.

Nov 30, 2013 · I assure you my BLR has a steel frame. My records show I bought it in 1990. My understanding is that the receiver was made of aluminum when they changed the name from BLR 81 to BLR Lightning in 1995. That date is from Wikipedia so take it for what it is worth.

BLR - browning

Not the Browning BLR. The BLR utilizes a reliable box magazine that protects bullet tips and allows it to fire powerful game-dropping magnum cartridges. An extremely smooth rack and pinion-driven bolt locks tight to the barrel and gives the BLR the kind of superior accuracy that rivals many bolt-actions.

Considering a Browning BLR... The High Road

Dec 31, 2012 · IIRR the BLR has a 30-degree lever throw as opposed to the 90-degree throw on other models. And the aluminum receiver has a steel insert for the locking lugs. I really toyed with the idea of a BLR in 358 Win and trying cast pistol bullets for cheap practice.
